We absolutely loved San Diego. Nothing beats California weather, who can complain about mid-70s and no humidity! After landing in SD, we grabbed our rent a car and quick 15-minute drive landed us in Pacific Beach for lunch. We met one of Jim’s close friends from childhood at World Famous. Hands down the best lobster tacos I’ve ever had! If you are a Bloody Mary fan, their spicy one is the best, according to Jim.
After lunch we headed to Holy Matcha. I have to say just as adorable as Alfred’s Tea Room. What’s the 411 on Matcha? Matcha is naturally one of the most antioxidant-dense foods in our planet. These antioxidants lower inflammation, reduce stress, and boost energy. Sign me up! Of course, I ordered the chocolate donut topped with matcha and a Rose Lemonade garnished with edible flowers. The décor draws you in making Holy Matcha a fun spot to enjoy a cocktail, sweet treat, or tea.
Relax and Restore
While in California we stayed at the La Costa Resort in Carlsbad. We enjoyed several lovely dinners and their adult only pool. Jim hit the greens and the highlight for me was visiting the Chopra Center which is directly on the Omni property. You might recognize the name Deepak Chopra from Oprah fame. Dr. Chopra & Dr. Simon founded the center in 1996. Dr. Simon was a board-certified neurologist and an expert in the use of holistic healing practices. Dr. Chopra is a world-renowned pioneer in integrative medicine and personal transformation, and is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Endocrinology and Metabolism.
Let’s just say I was a little geeked out to be there. This world class center is devoted to providing and integrative approach to total well-being through self-awareness, and the practice of yoga, meditation, and Ayurveda. I was able to participate in and intro to Mediation class and picked up Dr. Chopra’s Perfect Health book. Wherever you might be on your health and wellness journey, one thing I’ve enjoyed focusing on this year is becoming more self-aware.
Our lives are jam packed with stimulus, noise, and energy all day lay. Taking just 5 minutes out of your day to sit in quiet to heal, balance and restore is so important. So far I love his book and I hope to share more with you all. If I come back again I would highly recommend doing a wellness retreat at the Chopra Center. It would definitely make a lovely girls trip too, especially for you busy moms!
